About Us
The Mission of St. John's Medical Library is to provide the medical staff and employees of St. John's, as well as the members of the general public, access to current medical and consumer oriented information.
The Purpose of St. John's Medical Library is to:
- provide members of the public with access to current health and medical information, which will enable them to become active participants in their helathcare.
- provide up-to-date clinical information to health professionals, which will will help them provide excellent patient care as well as facilitate thier continuing education needs.
- encourage active participation in medical decision making
- promote better understanding of medical conditions, their causes, and possible outcomes
- promote better understanding of medications, treatments, and procedures
- encourage better communication between patients and their families
- encourage better communication between patients and the health care professionals who care for them
- promote active participation in a healthy lifestyle
